Ours makes the booking, calls someone at Amex to get a tracking # and then gives the tracking # to the cruiseline and the credits and perks get applied. I am very excited that the CPP has added Celebrity and Azamara to their fold, but I have read complaints on that Celebrity/Az/RCL are not always as reliable about processing onboard credits as the Carnival brands are. Keep in mind that when redeeming for cruises, the value of your points depends on the card you have. Other redemption options can get you more value, so you may want to reconsider using points for cruises. To view how much points are worth for each card, check out the Amex rewards points calculator and select an eligible card from the drop-down menu.

Any credits applicable are applied at check-out in USD or the local currency equivalent. Benefits, participating properties, and availability and amenities at those properties are subject to change. To be eligible for FHR program benefits, your eligible Card Account must not be cancelled. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card. The Hotel Collection (THC) benefits are available for new bookings of two consecutive nights or more made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for eligible U.S. Consumer and Business Gold Card, Platinum Card® Members, and Centurion® Members.

For example, on my Celebrity Cruises, Celebrity offered $600 OBC. CruisinNana-- I wish you good luck with the combinability! Given that they don't double the 300 OBC when there are two AmEx cardmembers in the room, it seems unfair they should be able to scale it back for single cabin occupancy. We use the X AMEX card to charge most everything, and just go on the webiste and cash in our points. When I get Amex one my experience is it shows up in planner.
The Hotel Collection
For example, Costco only accepts Visa cards now, after switching from Amex only in 2016. Plus, despite the good number of foreign countries where you can use American Express cards, acceptance is on a merchant-by-merchant basis. At TPG, we're big #avgeeks but many of us also love cruises. From adult-only cruises, to family-friendly options such as the Disney Cruise Line, these days there's a cruise for almost every type of traveler. You don't have to employ every one of these tips to save money on your next sailing, but keep them in mind to make smart decisions as you plan your next vacation and once you're on board.
In addition for booking through Amex CPP, I expected to get the $200 OBC they offer. American Express is accepted at 10.6 million merchant locations in the U.S. and in 160+ countries and territories abroad. But you’ll find some stores that have exclusive deals with the more popular networks, Visa and Mastercard.

Certain suppliers pay us commission and other incentives for reaching sales targets or other goals and may provide incentives to our Travel Consultants.
Have already contacted my travel agent to arrange for benefits for our upcoming Constellation cruise and will know exactly which, if any, benefits apply once she contacts the appropriate AmX department tomorrow. We found the American Express Platinum’s CPP was a great way to get additional benefits when booking cruises through American Express Travel. In our case, we got a $200 Amex onboard credit (that stacked with other Princess promotions), we earned 2x American Express Membership points on the cruise and onboard spending, and we got an additional exclusive welcome gift. To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards® program-enrolled American Express® Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding dollar amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used.

Has anybody here booked &/ returned from a cruise through the new AmEx Cruise Privileges Program? But as others have mentioned, that is a possibility. Do you have a screen shot of your pricing when you booked. And may it have been they took the $200.00 off of your pricing at time of booking vs it being OBC from Royal? I dont remember seeing RCL give that much OBC for a balcony.
Here are my 33 top tips on how to save on a cruise. Each cruise line has its own fine print when it comes to Amex Cruise benefits, so make sure to read up on all the details before booking. Assuming your cruise booking meets all of these qualifications, you have a few valuable benefits to look forward to on your trip.
Please note, ICC cards are not offered to residents of the USA, Singapore, the European Union (UK exempt) and some other excluded countries. Visit your local American Express website for full details on products available in your country of residence at I’m not certain the AMEX Plat perk is even available when booking directly with Royal. I know it’s not when booking directly with NCL. And, I booked my last Royal Cruise through my TA, and that was the way I got the perk. I’ve used it on Royal, NCL and Celebrity and combined it with whatever perks/discounts were offered by the cruise line.
Membership Rewards ProgramTerms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards® program apply. My TA is an AmEx travel agent and she told me to get it, you have to book deposit with the card and pay the fare in full with it too. It’s not necessary to book the trip through AMEX Travel. Also, I note that the cruise lines don’t offer the perk if you book directly with them.
To keep costs down, skip the beach break tour and walk or take a bus or taxi to the beach. Do your own walking tour with a guidebook or app. Go on a hike or take yourself to a cathedral or museum.
Are the perx automatic or must I notify my travel agent and have her arrange for them? We recently booked an October cruise using our Platinum card and got a one-category Captain's Club Elite upgrade, but didn't realize X was back in the Cruise Privilege Program again with better perx than offered years ago. In addition to the Cruise Privileges Program, eligible Amex cardholders earn extra points on cruises booked through Amex Travel with any Amex card that participates in the Membership Rewards program. For example, the American Express® Green Card earns a total of 3 points / $1 on all eligible travel, including cruises. The best American Express cruise deal is the Cruise Privileges Program. This is available to cardholders of the The Platinum Card® from American Express and the Centurion® Card from American Express (both personal and business).
Fine Hotels + Resorts® (FHR) program benefits are available for new bookings made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for eligible U.S. Consumer, Business, and Corporate Platinum Card® Members, and Centurion® Members. Additional Platinum Card Members on Consumer and Business Platinum and Centurion Card Accounts are also eligible for FHR program benefits. Bookings must be made using an eligible Card and must be paid using that Card, or another American Express® Card, in the eligible Card Member's name, and that Card Member must be traveling on the itinerary booked. The average total value of the program benefits is based on prior-year bookings for stays of two nights; the actual value varies. Noon check-in and room upgrade are subject to availability and are provided at check-in; certain room categories are not eligible for upgrade.
With Platinum Destinations Vacations, each trip you take gets you closer to the next. If you make a new Cruise Privileges Program booking through American Express Travel for an eligible cruise, you'll get an onboard credit and amenity. This means booking through Amex Travel may be better than booking directly with the cruise line.
